Reliable Disinfection You Can Count On
Chlorination systems are critical to safe water and wastewater operations — and small failures can quickly become big problems. Mercer Controls provides complete chlorination service and support to keep your systems operating reliably and in compliance.
We troubleshoot, repair, and maintain chlorination equipment so operators don’t have to manage it themselves.
Repairs, Replacements & Calibration
Our technicians service all major chlorination equipment and components, including:
- Chlorinators and feed systems
- Tubing, injectors, regulators, and fittings
- Valves, sensors, and related components
- Chlorine analyzers and meters
We also perform calibration and verification of chlorine analyzers and monitoring equipment to ensure accurate readings and inspection-ready documentation.

What Usually Goes Wrong
Chlorination failures rarely announce themselves. The residual drifts, the analyser and the grab sample stop agreeing, and by the time anyone is certain there is a problem it has been going on for a week.
- Residual drifting, or falling off at the far end of the system
- An analyser reading that no longer matches the grab sample
- An analyser that will not hold calibration between visits
- A feed rate that will not stay where it is set
- Loss of vacuum on a gas system, or a regulator that will not hold
- An injector or check valve fouled with scale
- Cracked tubing, leaking fittings, a rotameter ball that sticks
- A metering pump losing prime or running dry
When the Analyser and the Grab Sample Disagree
This is the call we get most often, and it is genuinely ambiguous. Either the analyser is wrong — dirty cell, drifted calibration, tired reagent, a partly blocked sample line — or the analyser is right and the residual really has moved. On the SCADA screen those two look identical.
Until it is settled you are reporting numbers you cannot fully stand behind. Calibrating and verifying the analyser against a known standard resolves it in one visit, and the same reasoning applies to the rest of the instrumentation feeding your reports — see flow meter and instrument calibrations.
Gas and Liquid Systems Fail Differently
- Gas chlorine. Vacuum regulators, ejectors, cylinder connections and safety equipment. Problems tend to be loss of vacuum, leaking connections and worn diaphragms — and every one of them carries a safety dimension as well as a compliance one.
- Hypochlorite. Metering pumps, day tanks, suction and discharge lines. Problems tend to be scaling, off-gassing, lost prime and solution strength degrading in storage, which a Texas summer does nothing to help.
We service both. If you are replacing rather than repairing, see chlorination equipment and systems.

Preventive Maintenance Programs
In addition to repairs, Mercer Controls offers 6-month and annual preventive maintenance programs for chlorination systems. These programs are designed to replace components most likely to fail before they cause outages or compliance issues.
Preventive maintenance typically includes:
- Replacement of tubing and wear components
- Inspection and testing of system operation
- Calibration of analyzers and sensors
- Documentation for regulatory and operational records
Built for Operator Peace of Mind
Whether responding to a failure or maintaining systems proactively, Mercer Controls helps ensure chlorination systems operate safely, consistently, and with minimal disruption.
